Before shopping around for a home you want to get a "Pre Approval". Why? You will save yourself and a REALTOR® valuable time in narrowing down what you can and can't afford. "Pre Approvals" are generally good for 30 days, but ask your lender.

I always encourage my clients to shop around for a lender, since every lender has different options. Please do you homework when shopping around, especially with all the trouble some lenders have caused in todays market. I DON'T recomend you go with one off the internet. Many fall through at closing or try to change your rates at the last minute. Everything they promise you needs to be IN WRITING. Make sure you always ask questions, don't just go with whatever they say. Remember they are also trying to earn your business so know what your getting into before you sign.
